1st Artist Announce 2013 for the Noosa Jazz Festival!
26 April 2013
The first round of artists confirmed to perform at the 22nd annual NOOSA JAZZ FESTIVAL are THE IDEA OF NORTH, MONICA TRAPAGA, JAMES VALENTINE, GREGG ARTHUR and CASPER TROMP QUINET, REBECCA MENDOZA and THE JOE RUBERTO TRIO, FEML BELLING and the JOE RUBERTO TRIO, THE BEARDED GYPSY BAND, the INGRID JAMES QUARTET, the MATT BAKER TRIO (featuring Ingrid James), the ANT AGGS TRIO and THE SIMONTOLOGISTS to name just a few with organisers confirming more major names will be announced soon.
As one of Australia’s largest and most recognised music events, the 2013 NOOSA JAZZ FESTIVAL is already gearing up to present the biggest names of the genre at the picturesque tourist destination of Noosa Heads from Thursday 29th August to Sunday 1st September 2013.
Headlining the event is the acclaimed acapella group, THE IDEA OF NORTH, a quartet of musicians, who are serious about their music, without taking themselves too seriously. Their instrumentation: voice (soprano), voice (alto), voice (tenor) and voice (bass), with a little bit of vocal percussion thrown in to create a beautifully distinct sound and style that has seen them cross many musical genres including jazz, folk, gospel, pop, classical and comedy. With eight albums under their belt, a significant local and international fan base, there is no doubt they will be a festival favourite at Noosa 2013.
Tickets are now on sale and can be pre-purchased from www.noosajazz.com.au.
MONICA TRAPAGA may be best known for her work on the Australian series Play School but she is also an accomplished jazz singer, actress and author. Her professional career began as the femme fatal front person in the outrageously entertaining 1940’s inspired “Pardon Me Boys”, alongside her brother, notorious ex-punk rocker Ignatius Jones. With a genuine love of Jazz, Monica formed Monica and the Moochers and released two Aria nominated Jazz albums.
If music is a celebration of life then Australian musician-producer ANT AGGS’ life has been one big never-ending party. Sharing his revelry with the world, Aggs has played to audiences 15,000 strong in Europe, concerts in Asia and the Mid East, and major festivals in Australia. Along the way, Ant has toured with musicians and bands such as Tony Royster Jr, Afro Dizzi Act and Resin Dogs. Ant leads his own trio, in which he performs originals, as well as music of Miles Davis, Sting, John Lennon, Donny Hathaway and more.
The 2013 NOOSA JAZZ FESTIVAL will start this year from the Thursday night with concerts starting on the Main Stage in the Festival Village and entertainment confirmed to continue throughout the festival. The introduction of new Festival Season Ticket will enable patrons to access all of the shows on the main stage as well as access into new Masterclass series at the Festival Village where they can learn direct from some of the headlining artists!
The popular beachfront tourist destination NOOSA HEADS on Queensland’s pristine coast will play host to the festival that this year celebrates its 22nd year. The list of previous performers who have electrified the venues at Noosa Jazz Festival over the years is impressive. Greats like Bob Barnard, James Morrison, The Cat Empire, George Golla and Vince Jones are just a few of the big names that have performed at the festival.
The 2013 Noosa Jazz Festival has grown from a community event to a sophisticated celebration of jazz and progressive music, an internationally acclaimed festival attracting thousands of music lovers to South East Queensland.
Music lovers from around the world and across Australia will descend on the 2013 Noosa Jazz Festival from Thursday 29th August to Sunday 1st September.
